Meet the artist and discover the creative journey

Hi, I’m Kate, and HEKATE is my passion project, where I pour all my love and care into creating. HEKATE combines my joy of working with my hands, a sensitivity to materials that truly make me happy, and a dedication to unique designs and aesthetics that bring meaning to my life.

I want to bring that same feeling to others—pieces that aren’t just made, but crafted with intention and care. Sustainability is at the heart of this project. In a world that moves too fast, HEKATE is my gentle rebellion: a commitment to slowing down, honoring materials, and creating thoughtfully.

From Sketch to Print

Join me as I take you behind the scenes of my creative process, from sketch to the final reveal. It’s a slow process full of patience and a little magic at the end.

Sketching the vision

It all starts with an idea. I begin by sketching out my design, giving shape to the concept that’s been living in my mind. Once I’m happy, I redraw it in its final size to prepare it for transfer.

Transferring the Design

I place the finished drawing face-down on a lino block and trace over it with a pencil. This transfers the design onto the surface, ready for carving. Other times, I draw the design directly on the block.

Carving the Block

Carving is slow and detailed work. It’s where the design truly takes shape, one careful cut at a time. Some pieces take weeks to complete, but there’s something so satisfying about watching the image emerge.

Rolling on the Ink

When the carving is done, I roll paint evenly over the block. This is the first moment I get to see how all that time and care comes together.

Printing by Hand

Each piece is printed by hand — no press, just steady pressure and a bit of movement to make sure the print transfers evenly. Because of this, every print has its own small variations that make it unique.

Revealing the Print

Peeling back the block and seeing the results of the print is the moment that makes all of this worth it. In psychology they call it delayed gratification, and if you got to the end of this page I hope you got some of it too.
